Now you can open Demat Account through WhatsApp. If your account has been opened then you can also use WhatsApp for investing in IPO. Investment platform Upstox has announced the launch of this service. Upstox is providing end-to-end support for IPO related applications through WhatsApp. The investor does not need to be registered with Upstox to avail this service. They can apply for IPO through WhatsApp chat window.
5 times growth plan
Upstox co-founder Srini Vishwanath says that with this integration, Upstox aims to achieve 5x growth in IPO applications. The company’s plan is to cross one crore customers by the end of FY 2022. This figure is much more than the current 7 million customers.

Transactions from WhatsApp to Upstox
– The customer has to save the verified WhatsApp profile number of Upstox in the contact of his mobile phone and send ‘Hi’ to this number on WhatsApp.
Verified WhatsApp profile number of Upstox is 9321261098.
Click on ‘IPO Application’ using WhatsApp chat bot ‘Uva’.
Enter the registered mobile number and OTP (One-Time Password).
Click on ‘Apply for IPO’.
Select the IPO you wish to subscribe to.

Open Demat Account with Upstox from WhatsApp
– Using the chat window in WhatsApp, click on ‘Open an Account’.
Enter mobile number and verify with OTP.
Enter the email address and verify it with OTP.
Enter the date of birth.
After this enter your PAN information.
Now the bot will redirect you to the Upstox page for some simple formalities. With this the process will be completed.
Keep in mind: No document is to be uploaded on WhatsApp nor any document is to be sent on chat as attachment.
