Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphone Xiaomi 12 Pro in India at the end of last month. The base variant of the phone is priced at Rs 62,999. Whereas for its 12 GB RAM variant, you will have to spend Rs 66,999. Features like 50MP + 50MP + 50MP rear camera, 32MP front camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 4,600mAh battery and 120W fast charging have been provided in the phone. We used this smartphone for a few days and have brought its review for you.

what’s in the box
I have found Xiaomi very smart in this matter. On opening the box, you first find a silicone case, user manual, and a Type C-3.5mm connector. This was the most important thing to me. Because other companies do not provide 3.5mm jack in the phone and neither do they provide this kind of connector. Next you get the smartphone, USB Type-C cable and 120W charging adapter.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Display and Design
The smartphone is attractive in appearance and premium too. It comes in three color options – Noir Black, Couture Blue and Oprah Mauve. The last one we got was for color review. It has a curved display and punch hole design at the front. While the back gets a matte finish back. There is a good bump in the rear camera, for the safety of which it would be better if you use the back cover. For further protection, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus has been installed.

In this, the power button and volume buttons are given on the right side. While the left side is kept blank. On the top is the speaker grille, mic and IR blaster. Whereas the SIM tray, mic, Type-C port and another speaker are available at the bottom. You can only put two SIM cards in the SIM tray, there is no room for a microSD card.

The phone has a 6.73-inch WQHD + AMOLED dot display. This display comes with 2K+ resolution (3200×1440 pixels) and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The aspect ratio of the display is 20: 9 and touch sampling rate is 480Hz. You will also get Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support in the display. The contrast ratio and dynamic range of the display are good. The refresh rate of the display automatically adjusts according to the content. Whether you want to watch videos or play games, the display does its job perfectly in every respect.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Performance
The phone comes in two variants – 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. We have been given a 12 GB variant for review. As a processor, the company is giving Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset in it. It is one of the most powerful processors currently in the market. It gives 20% more performance than Snapdragon 888. However, there is also a slight heating issue on heavy gaming on high graphics and long video recording.

You do not face any problem in daily tasks, messaging, calling and multitasking. It has been given MIUI 13 based on Android 12 operating system. Apart from Google apps in the phone, apps like Facebook, Amazon, Zili, Spotify, etc. are available pre-installed. I have also liked the position of these display fingerprints very well. It is placed slightly higher, so that your thumb can reach it easily.

To improve your gaming experience, it has a quad speaker setup. It has two boofers and two twitters. This is the first smartphone in India to come with this feature. It has harman/kardon sound system which gives you 360 degree surround sound experience.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Camera
For photography, the phone has a triple camera setup with LED flash. It has a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. At the same time, it has a 32-megapixel in-display selfie camera for selfie.

I really liked its camera app. It has so many features that you can spend a whole day using it. It has features like Night, Short Video, Panorama, Vlog, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, Movie Effect, AI Watermark, Long Exposure, and Supermoon apart from Photo, Video, Portrait and Pro modes. It has tons of pre-loaded templates that make it easy for you to create great videos.

It has features like Motion Tracking Focus, Motion Capture and Eye Tracking Focus. Through this, you are able to track moving objects better. You can edit photos and videos only through the gallery app of the phone.

The selfie camera also does its job well. The special thing is that you can take selfies through the front flash light even in the dark. To make the selfie even more beautiful, it also has a beauty mode. You can directly post the selfie taken with this on social media.

In this, there is a facility to record video by turning off the screen to save battery. Apart from this, there is also a Live In-Ear Monitor feature, through which you can listen to the sound being recorded continuously.

Video recording performance is excellent. Through this, you are able to do 8K video recording at 24fps, 4K video recording at 60fps and 1080P video recording at 60fps. The stability of video and audio recording is at par with the iPhone 13. Support up to 1920Fps is available for slow motion.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Battery
4600mAh battery has been given in the phone. This battery supports 120W fast charging. The company claims that it takes 18 minutes to charge the phone from 0 to 100% in boost mode. The phone also gets 50W reverse wireless turbo charging. Talking about the battery life, it lasts a whole day on normal use, although if you use heavy, you will have to charge beforehand. We hope this can be rectified through a software update. In boost charging mode, the smartphone gets fully charged in about half an hour. However, it does get a bit hot when you do this, which is a normal thing.

our decision
This is a great option for those looking to buy a luxury phone. The display of the phone is not only great, but its design is also premium. You get super fast charging with quad speakers. In terms of photography, it falls slightly inferior to the iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22. However, the in-built filters and templates available in it make your job easy. In the case of videos, it gives excellent results. There is also no IP rating available for the phone, which would have revealed its water and dust resistance. Overall, we have liked its display, processor and selfie camera a lot.
